— DESMOND TUTU —
Hope is the thread that links all the pieces in this month's playlist; I have chosen each of them because as well as being beautifully soothing, they are also uplifting.
During lockdown I cultivated several new rituals, one of them was 'stacking' my yoga practice with my listening practice. They seem to fit together and enhance the benefits of the other.
A couple of days after I started doing this I found out that traditionally, the physical practice of yoga (asana) was intended as preparation for meditation. So it sort of makes sense why they work so well together.
I try and do this simple ritual each evening after work and I find it really helps me deal with and leave the stresses of the day behind.
This month's playlist contains enough pieces for you to listen to one a day if you'd like to try my ritual too.
If you are looking to get into yoga can I recommend pairing my music playlist with Adriene Mishler's wonderful free 30 day yoga journey; TRUE . The practices are designed for all levels and abilities and because it is a 30 day journey each day flows and links to the next making it easier to create the habit and build strength, mentally and physically.
If yoga isn't your thing, maybe try a walk stacked with a listening practice. You do what works for you.
I'd love to know what you think to this playlist and which pieces are your favourites - let me know in the comments below.Happy listening (and happy yoga-ing if it's your thing),
