Today I've chosen a magical piece called Aurora by BLOMMA, which is a duo formed of American composers Jacob Pavek (Minnesota) and Philip Daniel (Nebraska).

Both are inspired by contemporary classical composers such as Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Philip Glass, Max Richter and their ability to transmit powerful emotions through a simple, minimalistic sound.

This type of music completely fascinates me - as you will likely have guessed given that I feature the works of these aforementioned composers so often. I'm really intrigued by the soundscapes that can be created through merging the boundaries of electronic sounds and classical elements and instruments.

I also like that no one seems to know what to call it which is maybe part of it's appeal - it can't been categorised! Some call it neo-classical, some contemporary-classical, some post-classical, others ambient-classical, but what ever you choose to call it I think most will acknowledge that it is capable of capturing and conveying a huge range of emotions and depth of feeling.

with love,
Samantha
