My choice today is probably one of the most recognisable pieces of movie music (especially for those of a certain age); Hedwig's theme by the great John Williams.

Harry Potter is a story that will always hold a special place in my heart, it was a big part of my childhood. There was a sort of unofficial Harry Potter book club at my school and my friends and I would devour each new book when it came out. Then spend hours over the next couple of weeks talking about what had happened and the clues we thought we'd spotted for what we thought would happen next.

We all got a chance to sing Evensong at Gloucester cathedral with our school choir a couple of years after the first few films came out and we spent all the non-rehersal time poking our noises into all the little nooks and corners exploring the various rooms we'd seen in the films - most of which we probably shouldn't have been in!

This piece always brings back a lot of happy memories. If Harry Potter was part of your childhood too, I hope listening to this today does the same for you.

with love,
Samantha
