The opening title theme from Craig Armstrong's gorgeous score for 'Far From The Madding Crowd' is my choice today.

Another sweeping pastoral score which compliments the idyllic countryside setting of Thomas Hardy's epic story of love, honour and betrayal. The film itself is definitely one to watch if you like period films, the cinematography and acting are both superb. (I studied this book for GCSE English many moons ago... and I did not like the subject or the book, but I love this film.)

Armstrong's most well known pieces of film music are 'The Glasgow Theme' from Love Actually and 'The Balcony Scene' from Romeo and Juliet (the DiCaprio one!), I think this piece is equally beautiful and thoroughly underplayed by comparison.

with love,
Samantha
